Throughout history, the acorn and the oak tree have been synonymous with strength, growth, and refuge. Legend has it that by placing an oak branch or even an acorn in one’s home, the property will always be protected.
Much like the humble acorn and the mighty oak, Acorn + Oak Property Management is founded on the simple principles of persistence, fortitude and assurance. Our company’s goal is to provide reliable + professional service to our community’s property owners, investors, and tenants alike. We are committed to protecting our clients’ most valued investments, providing our renters with comfortable spaces to call home, and supporting our local businesses + organizations.
A Michigan native, Michelle has called North Carolina home for the last 15 years. She is a graduate of The University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill where she majored in American History and Creative Writing. Michelle has been an active property manager and Realtor since 2009. As a long time Durham resident, she loves all that makes up the Bull City—the fantastic food, the cozy pubs, and most importantly the momentum of a community that’s pulled itself up by the bootstraps. It’s not unusual to catch her renovating her historic home, playing in the garden, checking out a new band at Cat's Cradle or brunching at Rue Cler with a good book.
Originally from Kalamazoo, MI, Brett travelled and lived coast to coast before returning to where his heart is in Raleigh, NC. As a property manager, he goes above and beyond for his clients and tenants, working until the job gets done. In his free time Brett enjoys playing soccer, running, cheering on both Detroit and Carolina sports teams, and a good karaoke bar.
Dan may very well be the happiest, friendliest person in all of North Carolina which is why he was brought on as our first employee way back in 2013. Once our superstar office manager, he got his Real Estate License in 2015 and has been helping clients manage their properties with his positive can-do outlook ever since! Hailing from the great state of California, Dan has lived in the Triangle since 2010. He's an amazing artist (both visually and musically) and can make a mean sushi roll.
Laura spent 8 years in Raleigh before finding herself in the downtown Durham area she is now proud to call home. She is passionate about the culture of the city, and is proud to work for a company that supports that culture. An NC State alum, Laura worked in legal advising before beginning her career in property management in 2011. When not in the office, you may find her digging in the dirt at the Goodwill Community farm, running to and from Fullsteam with her run club, or standing on top of a skyscraper for non-profits.

Caleb has been actively engaged in real estate in the Triangle for several years, first in multifamily property management and then as a buy/sell broker before joining the Acorn + Oak family. She worked in fundraising and sales before following her love for real estate and joining the team at Acorn + Oak. A sixth generation Raleighite, Will knows the City of Oaks like the back of his hand! He’s seen the city grow leaps and bounds over the years, and frequents the many restaurants, museums, and hot spots the area has to offer. Throughout college at NC State, Will helped his family grow their real estate investments, and master the skills it takes to make a business profitable. With almost a decade of property management under his belt, Will has learned there is one critical element that makes his profession successful – customer service. “It’s always about the relationships”, he says, “And that inspires me to serve each day! My greatest achievement will always lie in the satisfaction and care of my tenants and property owners.” In his spare time, you can find Will hammering away on his historic home, or tilling a new vegetable garden in the back yard. And most times, you’ll find his Great Dane, Bailey by his side, supervising his work.

Born and raised in Durham, Stephen knew the Bull City before it became the sought after destination it is today. He can tell you where every four-wheeling trail used to be and, after years of research, has found the best fishing holes in the area (which he probably won't share!) After graduating from Appalachian State University and spending time in the mountains, he lived a few years at the NC coast but ultimately realized his heart was in Durham - halfway between the mountains and the sea. Stephen worked in logistics for the last decade so efficiency is his middle name. As a property manager, he's eager to please both his clients and tenants with his expert problem solving skills. When not solving problems, he's on a boat fishing…but won't tell you where!

The perfect mix of Golden Retriever and Chow, Sam is a Durhamite through and through. As a stray, she was picked up in downtown by the Animal Protection Society of Durham in early 2011. Not long after, she was adopted by our Broker-In-Charge and has been a loyal friend ever since. Sam’s presence is a constant + welcomed reminder to happily greet each new person we encounter, take long walks, and to always be ourselves. She enjoys naps, rope toys, and cheese.
